Common has teamed with actor Mark Ruffalo, who plays The Hulk in Marvel’s Avengers franchise, in a new video calling for families torn apart by the Trump administration’s immigration policy to be reunited.
“Families are still being kept apart and children are being kept in cages, We need to help these families,” Common says as Andra Day’s Grammy-nominated song, “Rise Up,” plays in the background.
In the video, released Friday, we see a mother crying as she’s been separated from her son. The video ends with them being reunited.
“This family was one of the lucky ones,” Common says. “But many more are not being reunited and now parents are being forced to pay to get their kids back. We will not rest until all the separated children are out of cages and back in their parents’ arms.”
The video was produced by We Stand United, a non-profit human rights organization, and released one day after the Trump Administration failed to meet a court order to reunify families they separated at the border by July 26.
Common and Ruffalo are asking for donations to the Families Belong Together organization to help reunite families separated at the border.
