Ever since the corona virus quarantine started, we have been looking for ways to bring live music to our
fans. Our Facebook “takeovers” have been very popular, and I will be doing two more this Friday night
on the WCTY Jimmy and Shelly Facebook page. Frankie Justin performs from his Lazy L Farm at 7pm, while Ashley Martin takes over at 8pm from Springboro, Ohio.
We first met Frankie Justin 10 years ago when he entered the WCTY Country Music talent show. He was
only 11 years old and his giant cowboy hat almost swallowed him up. In every way he looked like a
country star. He already had a deep baritone voice, and played licks on the guitar like a pro.
Justin’s journey to country music stardom was cemented when Johnny Cash’s nephew handed him a
guitar on his 8 th birthday. Nobody has seen him put it down since.
Frankie Justin is doing everything you should do if you want to be Country Music’s next big thing. At the
age of 14 Justin started knocking on doors in Nashville and performing at showcases. He was soon
discovered by CMA award winning producer Brien Fisher who gave him his first publishing deal. Justin
began working with some of the most successful writers in Nashville and that led him to writing his first
single. “Summer Love”.
When “Summer Love” was sent to radio, he started out on a nationwide journey to promote himself and
his song. He especially loved visiting radio stations and playing at concerts and fairs. He has opened for
acts like LOCASH, Easton Corbin, Parmalee and High Valley.
Frankie Justin went back to Nashville and this time he had a lot more credibility. He had a charted
single, his own band, and a notebook with some real good songs. He was a regular at Nashville hotspots
like the Bluebird Café and Tootsies. He released his second single. “Broken Heart Break” and the song
peaked at 60 and spent 15 weeks on the country charts.
His current single is “Spotlight” which was written by Ben Hayslip and David Lee Murphy.
Ashley Martin is a singer songwriter friend of mine from Springboro Ohio. I met her at a country radio
convention and when her radio tour took her to the Northeast, I had her play at Happy Jack’s Sports bar
in Plainfield.
Martin is extremely popular in Florida and Ohio, and her music streaming is nearing 1 million streams.
She is tentatively scheduled to be our country music star for the Rock the Boat 4 Jimmy and Shelly cruise
leaving Miami on March 7, 2021 on the Norwegian Joy.
Search for WCTY Jimmy and Shelly on Facebook to enjoy both shows Friday night.
